PROVENCE FABRIC in HISTORY

FRENCH PROVENCE FABRIC INSPIRED BY INDIA

During the 17th century the French Company of East Indies Trading Posts were created and launched a huge expansion of goods exchanges between France and India.
French people were very fond of the colorful printed fabric from India. A mixture of indian fabrics and French natural design were created. This type of new design fabric were called " INDIENNES" ="INDIANS".  In the south of France,sunflowers, paisley, diamond shapes design  from Provence were displayed on colorful cotton fabric. 
The fabric were printed with carved stamps and hand- painted.
Artisans work were replaced by industrial machineries later on.

Peter Pan and Claudine Collars are the Same !

PETER  PAN and CLAUDINE COLLARS:
Antique Nowadays Fashion Accessories




1900's , at the same period on both side of the world US and Europe Detachable Collars are worn !

Peter Pan collars are born and created by John White Alexander in 1905, New York . Claudine collars come from the French novelist writer "Collette" who describes a specific child detachable collar in her book : " Claudine at School".

Both are worn nowadays. They are flat detachable collars following the neckline. 
They are used as fashion accessories and even beautiful "clothing" necklace .
